How to Sync SharePoint Documents onto File Explorer

You can access document files and folders from your desktop instead of accessing through the web. To do this, you will need to sync the SharePoint site.

NOTE:

  • You must have OneDrive running in the background (this can be done if you see a blue cloud icon in the task bar)
  • You must have access to the SharePoint documents
  • You must remove the shortcut that is added in OneDrive otherwise the sync will fail

To sync the SharePoint site, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the SharePoint site you want to sync
  2. On the top, click on Sync
  3. If you're on Chrome, this pop will appear. Click on Open Microsoft OneDrive
  4. A window will appear briefly then disappear. If the sync was a success, you should see this message pop up on the bottom right
  5. Open the file explorer. On the left, under Wiley X, Inc click on the arrow to the left and you should see the documents synced to your desktop. Example:
